NEC Training
The NEC suite of contracts is a set of standard contracts used on construction projects across the globe. NEC contracts are used throughout the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Australia and in many more jurisdictions.
Unlike traditional contracts, NEC promotes collaboration and pro-active project management. This does tend to make NEC contracts “paperwork heavy”, but the theory is that this paperwork forces the parties to administer the contract correctly. In our experience, it works.
Our Direct Involvement with NEC
In 2023, we were retained by the NEC drafting committee to draft an official secondary option clause to make the NEC contracts comply with the law of Northern Ireland. Secondary option Y(NI) is now available to download on the NEC website.
NEC Courses that we Offer
We are available to provide training on all of the standard contracts within the NEC suite, including:
- Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)
- Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ECSC)
- Professional Services Contract (PSC)
- Professional Services Short Contract (PSSC)
- Engineering and Construction Subcontract (ECS)
- Term Service Contract (TSC)
- Facilities Management Contract (FMC)
- Alliance Contract (AC)
Delivery Methods
We offer two different types of contract training – “off the shelf” and “bespoke”.
- Our “off the shelf” training is designed to bring project teams and office staff up to speed on a specific form of contract in its unamended form.
- Our “bespoke” training incorporates project specific contract amendments and other documents into our training materials to bring project teams up to speed on the actual contract they are (or will be) using. As an optional extra, we can also draft template notifications etc. as part of these courses and incorporate them within our training materials
Our training courses vary in duration depending on client requirements. We can deliver anything from a one-hour refresher session, to multiple full-days spread over several months.
We can deliver our training courses online, or in person depending on client preference. We record our online training sessions and provide a link afterwards.
